Mavic 3T and IR Beacons

Is anyone utilizing IR beacons with a Mavic 3T? If so, are you having success? Our agency is exploring ways to quickly identify officers at outdoor concerts from the perspective of a drone. Any other suggestions or proven methods are welcome. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recognize the usual IR beacons with the Mavic 3T. The reason is the built-in IR cut filter on the optical sensors. As Steven writes, there are DJI products (M30T, H20N) where the IR cut filter can be tilted away and the IR beacons become visible

However, due to the different wavelengths used by the beacon and the thermal imaging camera, these beacons cannot be visible with the thermal imaging camera.

There are special beacons in the military sector that are visible with a thermal imaging camera, but they are relatively expensive.

Situational awareness tools such as TAK are more suitable for marking your police officers on the ground, or you can use the behavior of the personnel on the ground as a reference (team instead of individual, obvious gestures). The hand warmers work in theory, but depending on the altitude, they quickly become invisible on the thermal image. Vehicles can be marked, for example, with a large magnetic board with a reflective surface (aluminum tape or similar). However, depending on the size of the magnetic board, the flight altitude must also be taken into account.
