Donate to Support LEDA

This year, LEDA’s advocacy work has grown far beyond what we budgeted—but for good reason. There is a wave of federal and state activity that, if left unchecked, would drastically limit the tools public safety professionals depend on. We’ve been effective at stopping or improving harmful proposals, but the work has become intensive and will continue through the rest of the 2025 year.

Right now we’re fighting on three fronts:

  1. NDAA §1709 / “Covered List” risk

    1.  Without an agency willing to run a genuine national-security review of DJI and Autel under the FY2025 NDAA §1709 process, both manufacturers could be automatically added to the FCC Covered List—without transparent reasoning or a technical review.

  2. CBP “shadow ban” at the ports

    1.  Customs and Border Protection has effectively throttled DJI imports. Many public safety agencies and small businesses can’t obtain the technology they use to start programs, save lives, inspect critical infrastructure, or simply run their operations.

  3. State “country-of-origin” bans

    1.  Nearly 20 states pushed bills this year to prohibit government use of Chinese-made drones. These blanket bans ignore operational needs, cost realities, training pipelines, and the urgency of public safety missions.

A crucial point: LEDA is drone-agnostic. We don’t advocate for one company over another. We advocate for agency choice—so our members can select the platform that best fits their mission, budget, and community. We’ve been told by partners on Capitol Hill that without LEDA’s voice, broad bans would likely already be in place.

To keep pushing for common-sense, fact-based policy, we need your help. Your donation—large or small—directly supports policy analysis, member mobilization, coalition work, and the on-the-ground engagement needed to protect our members’ ability to fly.

Every contribution is tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately after you donate. NOTE: If you preffer to donate via check or invoice, please send us an email at info@ledauas.org and we will facilitate it with an invoice and receipt.

Thank you for standing with the men and women who use UAS to save lives, reduce risk, and serve their communities.
