FAA COW Question

Hello all,

My agency is operating currently under a COA with the FAA, but we have been interested in BVLOS as one of our close fellow agencies has had it for a few years. I have received the latest application packet and supporting documents from the FAA but now have a question with the Part 91.113 UAS BVLOS 200' Shielded Operations Checklist for Public Safety Organizations Operating Public Aircraft. Item #11 states the Remote Pilot will use a detection system to identify aircraft that are transmitting ADS-B out. How are you guys fulfilling this requirement? My agency is utilizing DJI drones (Avata 1 &2, Mini 4 Pro, & M-30T), if that helps. Thanks in advance!

I recently asked FAA about the same thing and they specifically said AirSense was acceptable. My problem is our donated UA is older and doesn't have AirSense so I am in the same predicament where I am attempting to comply with the waiver language. FAA basically said internet-based apps have too much latency to comply with intent of the waiver so I am looking for a cost-effective ADS-B out receiver. I found one that's only on Pre-Order from uAvionix called skyAlert which seems to fit the bill but again it's not available yet.
