GenPac Avata Lights
Good morning,
We have tried and failed now with a couple different sets of 3-D printed light mounts for our Avatas. They are fragile and break upon even minor crashes.
I found the GenPac Avata lights using FoxFury lights yesterday. They seem to be reasonably priced and more compact than previous solutions.
Does anyone have any experience with these specific lights?
Thank you in advance,

Brian,
I agree with Doug that they seem much more durable and the simplicity of keeping two lights charged instead of four is very appealing. We tested the GenPac FoxFury lights on the Avata 1 in a large garage at our office. This area is significantly larger (36'x24') than most residential settings, and approximates what I would consider a worst case scenario for indoor searches because of how large the garage is. What we found was that the FoxFury lights are very good at throwing light, but not at flooding an area with light. The first photo is using two forward facing Firehouse Arc V lights:
They do a good job of flooding the area close by, but it's difficult to see deep in the room.
The second photo is the FoxFury lights:
They are great at looking deep into the room, but there is less detail around the edges. I liken it to looking through a rolled up piece of paper or paper towel tube and worry that it would be very easy to miss something important when searching. The other downside of the FoxFury lights is that when you tilt the camera up, to simulate entry into an attic or drop ceiling, there is no light that spills up. This results in you basically flying blind:
If they could combine the FoxFury with Firehouse forward facing lights you would get the best of both worlds, which looks like this:
Unfortunately, as it is, you still end up with four lights and more weight than either system alone. I have not tested Firehouse's newest light kit, but it appears to be similar to the FoxFury, with forward facing lights that have a deep throw. Hopefully this helps you find a light setup that will work best for your needs.
